Conversion from oil to natural gas

Energy reform is restructuring the electricity industry, with two major issues at the helm: reducing energy costs and reducing emissions!
These objectives are a top priority for BMA, and thanks to the expertise of our team, we can help you reach the most ambitious and exacting targets.

Working in the field of energy reform in Mexico, BMA participated in the engineering of a fuel conversion from Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) to natural gas for several power plant boilers. BMA also worked on major retrofits requiring precise expertise in combustion and numerical simulation.

Some of the power plants converted by our team:

  • Puerto Libertad, Four 160MW units and 12 dual fuel burners running on oil and natural gas, plus equipment and auxiliaries.
  • Topolobampo, Two 160MW units and 24 dual fuel burners running on oil and natural gas, plus equipment and auxiliaries.
  • Lerdo, Two 160MW units and 24 dual fuel burners running on oil and natural gas, plus equipment and auxiliaries.
