Having graduated from Polytechnique Montréal, Dr. Brais holds a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a Doctorate in nuclear engineering, specialized in Combustion/Numerical Simulation (CFD).
Dr. Brais’ professional career began at an industrial burner manufacturer where he held the positions of start up engineer, product designer, and R&D director. While doing so, he was a lecturer in combustion at Polytechnique Montréal. Nominated as an associate professor at the Institut de Génie Énergétique in 1991, he later stepped down to devote more time to his consulting firm, Brais, Malouin and Associates (BMA).
The application of numerical simulation to industrial burner design led Dr. Brais to co-found a new company manufacturing very low NOx industrial burners. Following the acquisition of this firm by a U.S. conglomerate, Dr. Brais became Vice President, R&D and member of the board of directors of the BMA group, until 2020 when he definitively passed the torch to Mr. Malouin while remaining a valuable consultant in combustion and energy engineering.
